Winter = A Booming Real Estate Market
The real estate market is on fire, with existing home sales up 27% from October 2019, activity is not likely to slow down anytime soon, especially this winter.
“The rapid rise in home prices shows a housing market that’s on fire, and one that is not showing signs of letting up. Potential homebuyers usually get distracted in the winter with travel and the holidays, but this year is different. There is a direct correlation between people spending more time at home and strong housing demand,” said Ali Wolf, chief economist at Zonda.
Are your local real estate agents advertising this winter to reach potential buyers?

Fewer Consumers Shopped Black Friday, But They Did Hit Stores Other Days
According to chainstoreage.com, in-store shopping visits were down 50% this year due to safety concerns brought on by COVID-19, however, experts say that doesn’t tell the whole story. Big box stores saw an increase in shoppers on other days Thanksgiving week; Target reported a 5% increase over last year in the number of shoppers the Tuesday before Black Friday. Best Buy, Target, and Walmart also saw that customer visits were longer than they were last year, and experts believe this means basket size and sales per visit may have been much higher than usual.
How can you help spread the word about holiday sales at local retailers? Can small businesses capitalize on the longer shopping season by offering sales that last several days or more? Would marketing campaigns highlighting gift ideas available in-store convince shoppers to make a stop at a local, independent retailer?
Plant-Based Meat Delivery Orders Have Grown More Than 460% in 2020
According to vegnews.com, GrubHub reported a 463% rise in plant-based meat orders this year. Plant-based burgers were a huge part of this spike with a 251% increase in orders over last year and a 433% jump in orders from January to June of this year. Other notable increases over last year include plant-based foods from several cultures and genres.
- 263% growth of tofu spring rolls
- 242% jump for black bean tacos
- 211% increase for vegan chocolate cakes
- 183% leap for vegan ramen
How can you help spread the word for restaurants that offer vegan alternatives to popular, traditionally meat, entrees? Can you help increase sales for local, independent restaurants and help them target consumers who are vegan or interested in trying meat alternatives?
Are Home Gyms Here to Stay?
More than two in five Americans find exercise to be a huge priority in their lives. As of November, data by CivicScience, indicated 39% of Americans are working out several times a week, which is close to pre-pandemic numbers. Consumers may not be working out at public gyms as much, but they are purchasing home exercise equipment. In November, one in four Americans were new owners of home gym equipment.
As more Americans make the transition from public gyms to home gyms, how can your local businesses aid in their fitness journey?
