(Portsmouth, NH, June 22, 2016) – GateHouse Media, LLC announced today the selection of Futuri Media of Cleveland, OH as its streaming technology partner for its latest venture, EDGE Radio, which launched June 12, 2016 in the Portsmouth, NH market. Supporting The Portsmouth Herald and Fosters Daily Democrat, as well as online properties, seacoastonline.com and fosters.com, EDGE Radio will provide a live streaming audio channel, showcasing the best content of GateHouse Media’s Seacoast Media Group.
EDGE Radio, named for The Portsmouth Herald’s arts and entertainment weekly magazine, will offer local news provided by the Seacoast Media Group newsroom and The Associated Press. Sports, weather, arts, entertainment and restaurant reviews will be anchored by a live morning show, “The Morning Line”. The live morning show will open up the newsroom, providing an opportunity for listeners to call in, comment on the major local issues of the day and engage with the reporters that are on the street gathering those stories. Additionally, the new format offers expanded promotional opportunities for local market advertisers.

EDGE Radio will use Futuri’s new Futuri Streaming player that works natively with all new browsers, and it can automatically fall back to Flash on older computers. With the combination of MSE, HTTP Live Streaming and HTML5 audio, Futuri is able to deliver reliable streams across devices – both in the browser and in apps. Additionally, with Futuri’s Share Audio features, listeners can share audio right from the EDGE Radio streaming player into Facebook and Twitter.
